Series
Smooth, textured and handmade brick cladding tiles
The series describes how the face of the tile is made. It changes how the wall catches light far more than the colour name does.
I
Smooth series
Pressed flat before firing, with straight, sharp edges. Walls look orderly and modern, and joints read as clean lines. Smooth faces also shed dust more easily, which helps on road-facing fronts. Made in 9×3, 9×2 and 9×1.5 inches, 20 mm thick.
Good for: modern elevations, offices, TV walls, shop fronts.
II
Textured series
The face is worked before firing: rippled, rock-cut, pitted like linen, worn at the edges or laid upright for soldier courses. Side light throws small shadows across every tile, so the wall looks deeper. The textured range has the widest colour spread, including dual tone.
Good for: boundary walls, pillars, cafés, restaurant and reception walls.
III
Handmade series
Moulded by hand, so edges are soft and no two tiles match exactly. They are thicker, 30 mm for the 9×3 tile and 25 mm for the short 6×3 brick, which gives a heavier shadow at each joint. They suit a wider joint and a pale grout.
Good for: farmhouses, verandas, fireplaces, heritage-style fronts.
Sizes
Brick cladding tile sizes and coverage per sq ft
Figures assume a 10 mm joint. A wider joint means fewer tiles; the calculator works it out for 8, 10 and 12 mm.
| Face size | Thickness | Series | Tiles per sq ft | Reads as |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 × 3 in | 20 mm / 30 mm handmade | Smooth, textured, handmade | about 4.5 | A full brick. Best for large walls. |
| 9 × 2 in | 20 mm | Smooth, textured | about 6.4 | A finer brick for rooms and balconies. |
| 9 × 1.5 in | 20 mm | Smooth, textured | about 8.1 | Long, slim courses; a modern line. |
| 6 × 3 in | 25 mm | Handmade | about 6.6 | A short, old-style brick. |
Colour
Choosing a brick cladding colour
Terracotta is the brightest, an orange-red that looks warm in the evening and lively in photos. On a big façade in strong sun it can feel loud, so it often works best on a band or a tower.
Red runs from orange-red to maroon depending on the tile. The deeper reds, like Red Texture, hold their colour well in shade and suit boundary walls.
Brown is the calmest choice for a whole front and the most forgiving with dust. Deep Brown Smooth is close to chocolate and makes a strong contrast with white plaster.
Dual tone mixes light and dark tiles so the wall looks like it was built from mixed old brick. Lay it at random, not in a pattern.
Screens and photos never show clay colour exactly. Look at samples outdoors, morning and evening, next to the plaster and window frames that will sit beside them.

Which brick cladding tile is the most popular?
The 9×3 inch size is the one most people start with, because it has the proportions of a full brick and covers the most area per piece. Colour depends entirely on the building, which is why we suggest samples.
What is the difference between the smooth and textured series?
Smooth tiles have a flat, pressed face and crisp edges, which gives a clean, modern wall. Textured tiles have a worked face (sanded, rock, linen, aged or grooved) that throws small shadows and looks older.
Why are the handmade tiles thicker?
Hand-moulded clay is formed and fired differently, so the tiles are made at 25 and 30 mm. The extra depth gives a heavier shadow line at each joint.
Do all tiles from one order match exactly?
Clay shifts in shade slightly from firing to firing. Order the full quantity at once and mix tiles from several boxes while laying so the wall looks even.
